How to Buy a Metal Building

Follow these six steps to ensure you get the perfect building for your needs and budget.

Determine Your Needs

Consider what you'll use the building for — vehicle storage, workshop, barn, or commercial space. This determines the size, roof style, and steel gauge you'll need.

Our buildings range from 12×21 carports to 60×80 commercial structures. Measure your space and think about future needs — it's always better to go slightly larger.

Select Your Roof Style

Choose from Regular, A-Frame Boxed Eave, or Vertical roof styles. Vertical roofs are the strongest option and best for areas with heavy rain or snow.

Vertical — best for rain, snow, and heavy weather

Vertical roofs are recommended for buildings over 24' wide

Pick Your Steel Gauge

Standard 14-gauge steel works for most applications. Upgrade to 12-gauge for larger structures, heavy wind zones, or commercial use for maximum durability.

14-gauge — standard residential buildings

12-gauge — 20% stronger, recommended for 30'+ widths

12-gauge required in high wind/snow zones

Get Permits & Prepare Site
